Scientific name: Lyriothemis elegantissima

Habitat: pond with canopy cover

Body length: 36-41 mm

Distribution in Hong Kong: widespread, e.g. Hong Kong Wetland Park, Wu Kau Tang, Mui Wo

Flight period in Hong Kong: April to August

Identification features (male):

1.  Synthorax yellow, with black stripes

2. Abdomen broad, and dorsum bright red

3. Ventral black, with paried yellow spots on 3th to 8th abdomen

Identification features (female):

1. Synthorax yellow, with black stripes

2. Abdomen broad, yellow, dorsum with five black stripes
