Scientific name: Macromidia ellenae

Habitat: woodland stream and pool

Body length: 42-45 mm

Distribution in Hong Kong: Mainly in north New Territories, e.g. Hok Tau, Sha Lo Tung, Luk Keng

Flight period in Hong Kong: April to June

Similar species: Common Shadow-emerald (Comparison)

Identification features:

1. Several yellow spots on two sides of synthorax

2. Apparent amber spot at wing base in female

3. Apparent vertical yellow stripe on the dorsum of abdomen
