Habitat: pond, slow-flowing stream

Body length: 34-39 mm

Distribution in Hong Kong: widespread, e.g. Hong Kong Wetland Park, Wu Kau Tang, Hok Tau, Mui Wo

Flight period in Hong Kong: throughout the year

Identification features (male):

1. Synthorax black, with irregular yellow stripes

2. Legs yellow, tibia swollen

3. Abdomen end and anal appendages white

Identification features (male)(subadult):

1. Synthorax black, with irregular yellow stripes

2. Abdomen mainly white

Identification features (female):

1. A brown-ring stripe surrounding compound eyes

2. Synthorax black or brown, with irregular pale yellow or white stripes

3. Abdomen of immature individuals mainly white
