Habitat: marsh, pond

Body length: 27-29 mm

Distribution in Hong Kong: Mainly in north New Territories, e.g. Hong Kong Wetland Park, Kai Kuk Shue Ha

Flight period in Hong Kong: May to October

Identification features (male): 

1. Eye and synthorax black

2. Small red spots on the end of the femur of hindlegs 

3. Abdomen short and stout, bright red

Identification features (female):

1. Synthorax and abdomen yellow, with black stripes

2. Small yellow spots on the end of the femur of hindlegs
