Scientific name: Ictinogomphus pertinax

Habitat: pond, reservoir, slow-flowing stream

Body length: 68-72 mm

Distribution in Hong Kong: common in northwest New Territories

Flight period in Hong Kong: February to November

Similar species: Golden Flangetail (Comparison)

Identification features: 

1. Legs all black

2. A pair of black leaf-like projections on the 8th abdominal segment, which are smaller in female

3. Yellow spots on the 2nd to 9th abdominal segment

4. Superior anal appendage pin-like, and inferior anal appendage very short in male
